Jefferson Elks to host Christmas Day dinner

On Christmas Day, the Jefferson Elks Lodge #2306 will prepare and serve a traditional Christmas meal to those individuals and couples who would otherwise be spending the day alone. Elks and Does members, their spouses, children, and grandchildren, will donate time from their Christmas Day to prepare and serve this free Christmas meal.

VFW tells local essay contest winners

Winners at Greene County Middle School in the Patriot’s Pen essay contest, sponsored locally by VFW Post 9599, have been announced. Andrea Grundon (left)  won first place. She was awarded $100 and her essay will be forwarded to the state competition.
