The Bell Tower Festival 4-person best ball tournament at the Jefferson Community Golf Course drew many golfers despite hot weather. Jefferson police officers wrote 16 citations and issued 70 warnings during a special Traffic Enforcement Project (sTEP) wave May 23-June 5. Citations were issued as follows: stop sign/stop light violation, three; driving with license suspended or revoked, three; seat belt violation, two; speed, two; driving without a license, one; driving without a license, one; and other traffic violations, four.

Women landowners host community photo project

Project available to other organizations, venues “River Stories: Views from an Iowa Watershed,” a community photo exhibit, took place last Sunday at the Town/Craft Center in Perry. The exhibit was created by a group of six area women landowners this spring. The landowners provided a short presentation to introduce the exhibit.

Vets serving spaghetti after the parade

Those who attend the Bell Tower Festival parade next Saturday will find a close, convenient and comfortable place to feed their family after the parade. The veterans groups – VFW, American Legion, and VFW auxiliary – will host a spaghetti lunch at the VFW hall on the east side of the courthouse square immediately following the parade.

Ice cream social in Rippey Sunday
