The Greene County 4-H and FFA beef weigh-in is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 15, from 1 to 4 pm at the Greene County Fairgrounds in Jefferson.
All market beef to be exhibited at the 2014 Greene County Fair are required to be weighed and tagged during this time, with complete identification forms turned in. Exhibitors who plan to weigh-in market beef for Ak-Sar-Ben need to contact the Extension office ahead of time. The Greene County Cattlemen are sponsoring the cost of ear tags, so the only cost will be for retinal imaging, State Fair and Ak-Sar-Ben animals.
Members or parents who cannot attend may send their animals with another parent/exhibitor. Only Ak-Sar-Ben beef exhibitors and parents will need to sign a waiver if the exhibitor and/or the parent is not able to attend weigh-in. Waivers may be picked up at the Extension office during normal business hours, 8 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
Once weigh-in is complete, the information will be recorded into the 4-H Online database for each animal. ALL exhibitors/families will need to go to their online profile at www.4honline.com to verify that the information is correct by Jan. 27. If information is not verified by that date, it stands as entered. 4-H Online help sheets will be available at weigh-in and are always available at the Extension office.
