Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation held its annual meeting in September, electing a new president for the first time since the organization began in 2014. Norm Fandel, the long serving president, stepped down after completing his term.
He along with Bob Allen, long serving treasurer, and Kate Neese were the last of the original board members to complete their terms on the board. All three shared fond memories of what it took for Grow Greene County to form and bring Wild Rose to Jefferson. They are in awe of the number of volunteers that have come together to write grants and implement projects utilizing GGC funds over the past 12 years.
The following officers were elected at the annual meeting: Gabe Karber, president; Lori DeMoss, vice president; Jared Taggart, treasurer; and Jeri Hedges, secretary. GGC also welcomed three new board members: Todd Hansen, Megan Fouch and Libby Towers. The remaining board members are LeeAnna Ausberger and Bill Fields.
Going forward, GGC board members will be limited to serving two three-year terms to align with the guidelines developed by the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission. To allow for more members to learn the workings and requirements of Grow Greene County, the board may entertain adding additional board members. Persons interested are encouraged to speak with current or past members of the board about the requirements of becoming a board member.
As a new era in leadership begins within Grow Greene County, don’t look for many changes, current board members agree that the original board set a solid foundation on which to move forward.
