Kiwanis awards grants, plans pancake breakfast

The Kiwanis Club of Jefferson has had a busy fall supporting local organizations, investing in children’s literacy programs and preparing for its 53rd annual pancake breakfast. The club recently contributed $3,600 to three community programs and welcomed new leadership for the coming year.

On Sept. 16, Kiwanis presented a $2,100 donation to Caring Hearts of West Central Iowa to support Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. The program promotes early childhood literacy by providing free, age-appropriate books to children from birth to age five, helping families develop a love of reading at an early age.

Looking ahead, the Kiwanis Club of Jefferson will host its 53rd annual pancake breakfast Saturday, Oct. 31, from 6:30 to 11 am at Greene County High School. The breakfast will feature all-you-can-eat pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage links and beverages. Carry-out meals will also be available.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 3 through 10, while children ages 2 and under eat free. A presale special offers one free ticket with the purchase of four tickets. Tickets are available from Kiwanis members and at the Greene County Community Center.

The annual pancake breakfast is one of the club’s fundraising events, helping make possible the donations and service projects that benefit children, families and organizations throughout Greene County.

The Kiwanis Club of Jefferson appreciates the continued generosity and support of the community and invites everyone to attend the pancake breakfast.
