Local author to give talk at Jefferson public library

The Jefferson public library will host Iowa author Pamela Fritz Davis at an author talk on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 2:30 pm at the library. Davis lives in Grand Junction and has recently published two books.

Davis has written poetry and prose for many years, but only last year decided to publish her work and give public readings. Davis is a member of The Ink Society, the library’s writing group, that along with local publisher Janice Harbaugh of Raspberry Ridge Publishing encouraged her to share her writings in book form.

Her first book is a children’s book, “Set Sail on a Dream”, which she wrote for her granddaughters. It’s the story of two young girls who drift into a tropical dreamland filled with colorful birds, playful animals, and glowing sea creatures. The book is illustrated by Tim Read of Ames.

“Where Shadows Meet Sunlight” is a book of poetry that also features Davis’ photography. “The poems are heartfelt and personal, and I wrote them to help others who may be feeling lost,” said Davis.

“We like to put a spotlight on our local authors and celebrate with them when they publish a book,” said library director Jane Millard. “Pam’s writing style is varied, sometimes whimsical and sometimes serious. All of it is genuine, and everyone that attends will enjoy this program,” she added.

Both books can be purchased at the author talk and Davis will be available to autograph them. They also may be purchased online through Amazon, and can be checked out from the library. This event is open to the public and refreshments will be served.
