Native prairie walk Sept. 19 in Franklin Township

Dr Thomas Rosburg, professor of biology, botany and ecology at Drake University, will lead A Walk on Tipton Prairie Saturday, Sept. 19, from 2 to 4 pm. Tipton Prairie is prairie remnant, never having been plowed.

Tipton Prairie is home to more than 180 species of native plants. native prairie, located on County Road E-57 east of Cooper, between R and S Avenues on the south side of the road, west of Adkins bridge. Attendees should wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather.

The prairie walk is sponsored by the Friends of Greene County Parks, Raccoon River Watershed Association, Panora Conservation chapter, Izaak Walton League, Greene County Conservation and the Greene County Historical Society.
