Greene County district court, week ending Aug. 21

In Greene County district court Benjamin Keith Potts, 37, of Granger was sentenced Aug. 19 to 180 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated. All but two days of the jail time was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He may complete the Des Moines Area Community College 48-hour alcohol education program in lieu of the jail time. He must complete a drinking drivers course, and he must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any/all recommendations. Potts was fined $1,250 with a $187.50 surcharge; one-half will be waived if he obtains a temporary restricted license. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)

Nancy Ann O’Brien, 55, of Carroll was sentenced to 180 days in jail after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated. All but two days of the jail time was suspended and she was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: James Don Miller, 50, of Glidden, ongoing criminal conduct- unlawful activity and theft- second degree; Douglas Alan Berglund, 58, of Jefferson, possession of methamphetamine- third or subsequent offense; Tiffany Julin, 40, of Jefferson, forgery and identity theft less than $1,500; Daniel Joseph Tasler, 35, of Jefferson, theft- second degree and criminal mischief- third degree; Shawna Marie McCullough, 44, of Yale, operating while intoxicated; Karl Maurice Krieger, 33, of Jefferson, possession of a controlled substance- third or subsequent (two counts) and dominion/control of firearm or offensive weapon by a felon; and Laleica Marie Tubbs, 27, of Churdan, operating while intoxicated and possession of marijuana. Trial dates were set for Nov. 3 in every case.

Information is available that cases were initiated earlier in August against Jay Dean Thede, 49, of Churdan, child endangerment- bodily injury; and Kenneth Jay Manz, 41, of Jefferson, theft- second degree. A case was initiated during the week ending Aug. 21 against Jeffrey D. Sprague, 49, of Jefferson, harassment- first degree.
