Ava Schilling of Jefferson qualified for the semi-finals in the Sprout division of the Bill Riley Talent Search at the Iowa State Fair with her Wednesday performance of “You Can’t Get a Man with a Gun” from “Annie, Get Your Gun.” She will perform again Friday, Aug. 15, in the noon session.
Ava qualified for the competition at the Bell Tower Festival in June. Greene County audiences are already familiar with Ava’s talent, as she was the Greta, the youngest von Trapp daughter, in the Community Players’ production of “The Sound of Music” in February.
She is the daughter of Nicole Friess Schilling and the late Chris Schilling.
Tyler Gathercoal of Grand Junction will ;perform his drum solo in semi-final competition in the Senior division on Saturday. A video of Tyler performing his solo is posted under the Good News tab of GreeneCountyNewsOnline.
