Prepare for severe weather

Greene County is at enhanced risk for severe weather Sunday evening from 8 pm through Monday at 9 am. Wind gusts of up to 75 mph are possible.

The risk of severe weather in Greene County is also enhanced Monday May 18 after 6 pm. Storms are expected to begin in western Iowa and eastern Nebraska, pushing east throughout the evening.

According to the National Weather Service, damaging wind, tornadoes, heavy rain and large hail are all possible. The greater risk in central Iowa is damaging winds, with wind gusts of up to 75 mph possible. There is also a slight risk of heavy rainfall causing flash flooding.
