
Delores Darlene (Esdohr) Finch, the daughter of Romayne and Gladys (Kotas) Esdohr was born December 28, 1937, in Scranton. She graduated from Scranton Consolidated School in 1955.
On April 6, 1956, Delores married Richard Dean Finch at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson. They became the parents of two sons, David and Dale.
Delores worked for several years as a secretary at Crouse Cartage Company in Carroll. Later, she worked as the secretary and bookkeeper and, with her husband, was co-owner of Finch’s Greene County Motor Company in Jefferson. Delores and Dick also farmed in Greene County.
Delores enjoyed her family and her working career. Additionally, she enjoyed craft work and selling at craft shows. For 15 years, she volunteered as a “pink lady” at Greene County Medical Center.
Delores was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Delores and Dick had a home on Lake Panorama. She liked working in her yard, and was a member of the Panora Garden Club.
In their retirement years, Delores and Dick traveled extensively. They wintered in Arizona for more than 35 years.
Delores died May 13, 2026, at the extended care unit at Greene County Medical Center. She was 88 years of age. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband Dick; and son David.
Delores is survived by her son Dale (Jane) Finch of Jefferson; granddaughters, Jennifer Carlson of Gilbert, AZ, Emily (Cade) Van Vliet of Scranton and grandson Dustin Finch of Tucson, AZ; great-grandsons Dayton Carlson, Ashton Carlson and Bennet Bacon; other relatives and friends.
A private family graveside service will be held at a later date at the Jefferson Municipal Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church or Greene County Medical Center. Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home, 515-386-2171, is assisting the family.
