In Greene County district court Jeffery Larry Anderson, 61, of Panora was sentenced to 30 days in jail with credit for time served after he pleaded guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. The jail sentence is concurrent to a sentence in an Audubon County case. Anderson was fined $1,000 with a $150 surcharge. The court found him unable to pay court costs or restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fee. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)
Scott Matthew Slinger, 53, of Clive was sentenced to one year in jail with credit for time served after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated. All but two days of the jail sentence was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense, and he must complete a drinking drivers course. In lieu of the jail time he may complete the Des Moines Area Community College 48-hour alcohol education program. A judgment was entered for a $1,250 fine with a $187.50 surcharge; one-half will be waived if he obtains a temporary restricted license. Court costs were $164.50. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Persons pleaded not guilty to charges as follows: Tanya Marie Helmrichs, 46, of Guthrie Center, burglary- third degree, attempted burglary- third degree, theft- second degree (two counts), and criminal mischief- second degree (two counts); and Braeden Michael Turner, 18, of Jefferson, sexual exploitation of minor- cause to engage in act- six counts, and purchase/possess depiction of minor in sex act. Trial dates were set for June 16 in both cases.
Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Lorena Andrade, 28, of Perry, possession of marijuana; Brandon Lee Nevins, 45, of Lehigh, possession of marijuana; Veronica Laine Ellsbury, 41, of Grand Junction, possession of methamphetamine; and Brianna Lee Bacon, 31, of Badger, driving while license revoked.
