Historic Voices presents ‘The Founding Mothers’ March 7 in Grand Junction

Historic Voices will present “The Founding Mothers” on Saturday, March 7 at 2 pm at the Grand Junction Community Center.

This performance features a live portrayal of historical characters by Laura Keyes. Her illustrated lecture will focus on the remarkable women who had a first-hand view of the founding of our nation and whose brave stories need to be shared.

“While many are familiar with Martha Washington and Abigail Adams, there are many more women to admire,” says Keyes. “Whether they assisted in the years-long Revolutionary War or had one brief moment of heroism, their actions had long-lasting and nation building effects. Learn about soldiers, writers, printers, scholars, farmers, artists and spies—all women, all vital to our nation’s history.”

Keyes is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a master’s degree in library studies. She has been performing women from history and lecturing on historic topics for over 15 years. “The Founding Mothers” is hosted by Grand Junction public library. It is available to the public at no charge. The program is sponsored by the Greene County Librarians Association and the Greene County supervisors.
