In Greene County district court Camron O. Donatlan, 26, of Aurora, IL, was granted a deferred judgment Feb. 4 after he pled guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana- first offense, amended from possession of marijuana- second offense. He was placed on probation to the Greene County sheriff for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any and all recommended treatment at his own expense. He must pay a $430 civil penalty and $100 court costs. In a related case in magistrate court, a judgment for a $105 fine with a $15.75 surcharge was entered against Donatlan on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Logan Wayne Grazier, 29, of Scranton was sentenced Feb. 2 to 10 years in prison, with credit for time served, after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of arson- second degree. The prison term was suspended. He was fined $1,370 with a $205.50 surcharge; both were suspended. He is jointly and severally liable with co-defendant Connor Laine Groves for $8,423.46 restitution to the owner of a house and $280,574.23 to Century Mutual Insurance. Grazier was sentenced to five years in prison, with credit for time served, on a charge of insurance fraud- presenting false information. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Correctional services for three years. He was fined $1,025 with a $153.75 surcharge; both were suspended. Charges of criminal mischief- first degree and conspiracy to commit non-forcible felony- two counts, were dismissed. (Sentencing: Honorable Derek Johnson)
Yerson Antonio Salvin, 23, of Waukee was sentenced to 10 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. The jail term was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He must also perform 40 hours of community service. Salvin was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge. Court costs were $500. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Jason Thomas Whitver, 37, of Jefferson, sex abuse- third degree; Virgina Lois Henry, 49, of Saucier, MS, possession of marijuana- second offense and operating while intoxicated; Ulises Lepe Hernandez, 22, of Jefferson, operating while intoxicated; Zoee Anne Helmentoler, 19, of Grand Junction, assault causing bodily injury or mental illness; Hanna Marie Ladehoff, 23, of Jamaica, attempted burglary- third degree (two counts), criminal mischief- second degree (two counts), theft- third degree and theft- fourth degree; and Joshuah Jack Sparks, 17, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana and burglary- third degree. Trial dates were set for April 7 for all defendants except Whitver. His trial date was set for May 12.
Cases were initiated in district court during the week ending Feb. 6 as follows: Tythaniel Paul Sinkuler, 36, of Jefferson, domestic abuse assault impeding air/blood flow causing bodily injury; and Kyle Evan Habrich, 37, of Boone, possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana.
