An ecumenical Blue Christmas service, a service of hope and remembrance, will be held Thursday, Dec. 18, at 7 pm at Christ Lutheran Church. Pastor Jay Alexander of Central Christian Church will bring the message.
The quiet, contemplative service is intended for those for whom this time of year brings back memories of past pain and sorry. “For many, this time of year that we call the ‘holiday season,’ is no holiday at all,” said Pastor J. Alexander. “It is filled with difficult times, humps to get over, gatherings to endure, a variety of pressures and a flood of memories that darken and dampen the days and nights.
“This service will hopefully allow for some time to recognize that this season is not a joyful one for everyone… I hope to bring a brief message that will seek to uplift and give a sense of comfort,” he continued.
