Greenewood Center, solar installations on Jeff city council agenda

The Jefferson city council at its Dec. 9 meeting will hear a presentation of the study completed by Bolton & Menk of the feasibility of a project renovating the Greenewood Center to accommodate the municipal golf course clubhouse in the lower level of the building. The current clubhouse would be razed.

Per the council agenda, no action is anticipated except to acknowledge receipt of the report.

The agenda also includes a presentation by Red Lion Renewable of solar installations on city property that could offset electrical costs. Red Lion Renewable would install, own and maintain the solar installation and sell the power generated to the city at a cost less that what Alliant charges.

The city would need to grant easements to Red Lion Renewable to place the panels on city property. The council anticipates setting a public hearing for Jan. 13 on easement agreements.

The complete agenda is posted under GCNO’s Calendar/Agenda tab.
