Bailey Porter of Boone will become the new restaurateur of “The Centennial”, located on the downtown square in Jefferson. Porter is a 2015 Ogden High School graduate who earned degrees in culinary arts, hospitality management, baking and business from Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge. Porter plans to open in early December; more details will be available soon.
Porter will continue to use “The Centennial” name for the restaurant, retain the 515-386-3888 phone number, and continue to be open Monday through Friday from 10 am to 2 pm, offering both breakfast and lunch options.
“I’m honored to continue building The Centennial’s legacy and can’t wait to meet the people who make Jefferson such a special place,” said Porter. “I look forward to serving great food, building lasting connections with the community, and welcoming everyone in to dine.”
Porter has spent the past decade traveling to more than 15 countries, gaining valuable experience in a variety of culinary and hospitality roles. Her time abroad increased her skills and perspective while deepening her appreciation for the welcoming spirit of Iowa hospitality.
With a blend of global insight and hometown pride evident in everything she does, Porter loves to explore the world but she’s always happiest returning to the place—and the people—that feel like home.
Following are just two examples of Porter’s experience:
– Edelweiss Lodge and Resort, Garmisch, Germany, where she worked for several years; and
-The Range Restaurant and Cocktail Bar, Urbandale.
Why Not Us president Peg Raney talked about the change. ”It is so exciting to attract another experienced chef to our beautiful restaurant in Jefferson. Bailey will bring her own style and delicious menu to The Centennial, and we think the transition from Sara will be seamless. We invite the community to stop in soon to have lunch and meet her.”
