Winkelman to Jeff council, Holz and Nelson to school board
Jefferson voters returned incumbents Harry Ahrenholtz and Darren Jackson to the city council, along with newcomer Luke Winkelman.
With results from both Jefferson precincts tabulated, Winkelman led with 866 votes (26.73 percent). Jackson received 565 votes (17.44 percent) and Ahrenholtz received 551 votes (17.01 percent).
Paul “Skeeter” Hostetler received 523 votes (16.14 percent), Sue Bose received 391 votes (12.07 percent), and Eric Carlson received 333 votes (10.28 percent). There were 11 write-in votes.
Voter turnout in the Jefferson city election was 33.71 percent, with 2,055 ballots cast.
Only one candidate on the ballot for Greene County Schools board of education, Cindi Daubendiek, is an incumbent. She was returned to the board with 1,062 votes (20.88 percent). Joining her will be newcomers Megan Holz, who received 1,081 votes (21.26 percent), and Katie Nelson, who received 1,029 votes (20.24 percent).
Other candidates and their vote totals were Jeremiah Goughnour, 642 votes (12.63 percent), Nicole Chisum, 472 votes (9.28 percent), Scott Graham, 450 votes (8.85 percent), and Spencer Kirk, 328 votes (6.45 percent). There were 21 write-in votes.
A total of 5,085 votes were cast in the Greene County Schools election. The Jefferson city council election was more contentious than in many years, with a newly formed Political Action Committee, Jefferson Citizens for Common Sense Government, supporting Hostetler, Bose and Carlson.
