Stop in for ‘Fair Chats’ this weekend

The Greene County Historical Society will again present three “Fair Chats” in its building near the north entrance on the Greene County Fairgrounds on Friday, July 11, and Saturday July 12.

The short informal chats invite audience participation.

Here’s the schedule:

Friday, June 11, at 11 am – “Why 4-H: Yesterday and Today”. Former Grene County Extension director Craig Hertel takes a look at 4-H through the years with a perspective not known to the casual observer. Expect a few “Ah-ha moments.”

Friday, July 11, at 1 pm – “A Timeline of Iowa’s Megafauna”. Greene County Conservation naturalist Jacob Fernholz explores large animals that once lived in the state. Artifacts will be on display.

1 p.m., Saturday, July 12, at 1 pm- “Steam Farming”. Greene County farmer Nick Foster (who’s also History Society president) tells tales of his experiences operating antique steam-powered farm equipment.
