Boone & Greene County Probation was recently awarded $1,000 from the proceeds of the Rotary Club of Jefferson’s 2024 Charity Auction & Dinner.
Diane Hinderaker, director of the non-profit, explains that Boone & Greene County Probation provided probation supervision to 154 non-felony offenders in Greene County in 2024. Prior to BGCP, there was no misdemeanor supervision in the county. BGCP has been able to keep some individuals from serving jail time, allowing them to meet legal obligations while still tending to jobs and families. BGCP also supervises community service when that is part of a sentence.
BGCP will use the Rotary funds for marketing materials, a pledge drive, speaking presentations, its website and social media. The Greene County board of supervisors provides the majority of funding client services.
