The Jefferson Garden Club supported the development of the new pickleball courts at Russell Park by providing two 8-foot benches for players. These will be used as players rotate through their turns on the court. Members of the Garden Club attended the ribbon cutting of the courts on Thursday, May 22, to see the benches installed. The cost of the benches was $2,204.
“We’re very thankful for these benches and I know the pickleball players were excited to get them in place,” said Nathan Kral, Jefferson Parks and Recreation director.

To raise funds for community beautification, a mission of the Garden Club, the organization hosts biennial holiday Tours of Homes as fundraisers. The next tour will be in 2026.
“We are grateful for the support of the tours by home hosts and attendees,” said Garden Club president Deb Kucerak. “It’s a fun day that helps launch the holiday season and really gets people in the holiday spirit.”
The proceeds are used for projects such as these benches, butterflies in Imagination Alley and other beautification projects as well as the upkeep of the Memorial Garden on Lincoln Way across from the Milwaukee Depot where Garden Club installed art panels several years ago.
