
Services will be held February 27 at First United Methodist Church in Jefferson for Louise Jeanine Harris, 94, of Jefferson.
The Rev Heather Dorr, pastor of the church, will offer words of comfort. Danille Curtis will accompany congregational singing.
Interment will be at the Jefferson Municipal Cemetery.
Louise Harris, daughter of Knute and Alfhild (Stark) Wester was born August 7, 1930, in Paullina. She grew up on the family farm south of Paullina, attended country school and Paullina High School, from which she graduated. During her senior year she was Miss Paullina and was elected Dairy Empress, representing O’Brien County. After graduation from Morningside College, Louise taught elementary school in Sioux City.
On August 18, 1957, Louise married Bob Harris, and in 1958 their son William was born. The family moved to Urbandale in 1960, where Louise taught elementary grades until they moved to Jefferson in 1967. She continued teaching in Jefferson for many years, and subsequently taught Title One reading for the Area Education Agency in Fort Dodge.
Over the years in Jefferson, Louise was active in many organizations including Garden Club, P.E.O., and Sweet Adelines. Louise was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church in Jefferson.
Louise Harris passed away February 24, 2025 at the age of 94 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bob; and her brother Jim Wester.
Survivors include her son William and his wife Lizabeth Harris of Melbourne, FL; grandson Wade Harris and his wife Annabel Lyon and their daughter Nora Marie; sister-in-law Ruth Wester of Paullina and her children Dan Wester, Carol and her husband Rainer Nielsen, and Becky and her husband Jack Ysidro; other relatives and friends.
