The 2025 portion of meets for the Greene County Rams bowling team started better than they could have asked.
The Rams boys hadn’t bowled since early December against Dowling Catholic and returned to the lanes after the New Year against Kuemper Catholic Jan. 9.
The Rams boys earned a 2,747-1,979 win over the Knights, marking their second win of the year. The wins are a testament to the experience the bowlers are gaining.
“The reason behind beating Kuemper Catholic is our bowlers are experienced. They have bowled in our junior league on Saturday mornings. Plus, we have the high school bowling experience,” head coach John Woodford said.
During the match, Chase Fecher had the high game for the Rams with a 234, Lane Fields had a 229, Trystan Cummings had a 224, Teagan Chisholm bowled a 179 and Jacob Rumley bowled a 160. Calvin Fields bowled a 148. Fecher led in total pins with 445 with Lane Fields coming in second with 403. Cummings had 391, Chisholm had 346, Rumley had 319 and Calvin Fields had 281.
This week will be extremely busy for the Rams as both the boys’ and girls’ teams were expected to take on Waukee at home in Jefferson on Jan. 13 and are then expected to face off against Ankeny on Thursday in Jefferson as well. The Rams will finish their week on Friday against Ballard at Perfect Games.
The extended calendar shows both teams facing Fort Dodge on Jan. 20, OABCIG on Jan. 27, the Monarch Baker Tournament on Feb. 6, and finally, a meet against Carroll on Feb. 13.
