In Greene County district court Tiffany McCalley, 52, of Grand Junction was sentenced Jan. 16 to seven days in jail after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of possession of methamphetamine. The jail term was suspended and she was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. She must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete all recommendations at her own expense. She was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge; both were suspended. She must pay an amount not to exceed $500 for her court appointed attorney’s fees and $365.36 court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)
Samantha Nicole Randall, 37, of Des Moines was sentenced to five years in prison after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of possession of methamphetamine- third offense. The prison term was suspended and she was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Correctional Services for two years. She was fined $1,025 with a $153.75 surcharge; both were suspended. The court found her unable to pay restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees. One count of possession of methamphetamine- third offense was dismissed. A charge against Randall in magistrate court of possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Dale Edward Ganoe, 46, of Jefferson was sentenced to 30 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to a charge of assault with intent to cause pain/injury, amended from domestic abuse assault- third or subsequent offense. The jail sentence was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He was fined $105 with a $15.75 surcharge. Court costs were $131.50. Shelby Ann Perez, 30, of Scranton was granted a deferred judgment Jan. 15 after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness. She was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year, and she must complete a batterers treatment program at her own expense. A judgment was entered for a $430 civil penalty, a domestic abuse surcharge of $90, restitution not to exceed $500 for her court appointed attorney’s fees and $223.90 court costs. Dale Lee Spaulding, 56, of Glidden was sentenced Jan. 15 to 10 days in jail after being found guilty of harassment- third degree inn a non-jury trial Dec. 8. He was fined $105 with a $15.75 surcharge. Court costs were $365.80. (Sentencing: Magistrate Jessica Morton)
Jessica Lynn Holz, 37, of Red Oak was sentenced to five years in prison after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of burglary- third degree. The prison term was suspended. She was sentenced to one year in jail on a charge of theft- fourth degree. If she eventually serves the terms they will be consecutive to jail terms in Cass and Montgomery counties. She was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Correctional Services for three years, and she must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommendations at her own expense. Holz was fined $1,025 with a $153.75 surcharge on the burglary charge; both were suspended. She was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge on the theft charge. The court found her unable to pay restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees. Four counts of burglary- third degree were dismissed. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Joseph Henry Charleston III, 54, of Scranton was sentenced to two years in the custody of the Iowa Department of Correctional Services after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of domestic abuse assault- second offense. All but two days of that term was suspended. The term is consecutive to the sentence in another Greene County case for a total of 39 days; eight days remained at the time of sentencing. Charleston was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Corrections for two years. He must complete the Iowa domestic abuse program. He must undergo substance abuse and mental health evaluations within 30 days of being released from jail. Charleston was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay a $90 domestic abuse surcharge, $245 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees, and $131.50 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Persons pleaded not guilty to charges as follows: Aryanna J. Rank, 18, of Churdan, possession of marijuana; Camden Strennen, 18, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana; Michee Chinyama, 29, of Ankeny, driving while license barred; Shera Sean Anderson, 31, of Jefferson, possession of methamphetamine; and Christopher Craig Edwards, 43, of Carroll, driving while license barred. Trial dates were set for April 8 in every case.
Cases were initiated in Greene County district court during the week ending Jan. 17 as follows: Luis Daniel Medina Cruze, 26, of Jefferson, domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness; and Darrien Michael Lamar Peterson, 18, of Churdan, possession of marijuana and person ineligible to carry dangerous weapon.
