The Annual Friends of the Jefferson Public Library used book sale will begin Friday, Sept. 20, at 1 pm Friday, in the library basement.
Friday is open for Friends members only. Memberships may be purchased now at the library or at the door for a cost of $5 for individuals and $10 for families. Beginning Saturday the sale is open to the public free of charge.
The sale features books for all ages, in addition to DVD movies, music CD’s, audio books, board games, and jigsaw puzzles. There is a combination of donated items and those withdrawn from the library collection. This year there is a very large selection of children’s books, large print, and science fiction.
The hours of the sale are regular library hours except the sale will conclude at 6 pm each evening and at 5 pm on Fridays.
Bargain Day on Saturday, Sept. 28, is the final day of the sale. Patrons may fill a grocery store brown paper bag for $5. Books without a price tag may go in the bag. “Best Books” and items that are individually priced are sold at half price.
The fall sale is the major fundraiser for the Friends of the Library. It’s also the time to renew your annual membership. “Come in, browse, and support your local library,” a spokesperson said.
