The sheriff and Jefferson police department reports of daily activities have been missing since May. That’s when both agencies implemented new computer software designed for more efficiency in collecting the information they need for their purposes.
Both sheriff Jack Williams and chief of police Mark Clouse continued sending a daily report to local media, but it came as a spread sheet that provided very limited information and wasn’t usable.
GCNO emailed both Williams and Clouse, explaining the importance and value of the reports to the public. Williams explained he was working with the company that provided the software to have more information included in the software-generated reports.
And now, readers, we have a sheriff’s daily report again. It’s under the LEC/Courts tab, just like it has been for the past 10 years. Next time you see the sheriff, thank him.
No word yet from the JPD…..
