in Greene County district court Nicolas Balderas Rodriguez, 61, of Jefferson was sentenced June 19 to 180 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated. All but 14 days of the jail time was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He may complete the Des Moines Area Community College 48-hour alcohol education program in lieu of two days of the jail sentence. He must complete a drinking drivers course, and he must also undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. Balderas Rodriguez was fined $1,250 with a $187.50 surcharge; one-half will be waived if he obtains a temporary restricted license. Court costs were $100. A second case in which Balderas Rodriguez was charged with operating while intoxicated was dismissed. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)
Persons pleaded not guilty as follows: Tammy Ann Tolsdorf, 57, of Jamaica, controlled substance- third or subsequent offense, two counts, and possession of marijuana, third or subsequent offense; and Dale Edward Ganoe, 46, of Jefferson, domestic abuse- third or subsequent offense. Trial dates were set for Aug. 27.
Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Eric Franklin Vansumple, 32, of Lidderdale, possession of marijuana and operating while intoxicated; Raelyn Ann Holmgaard, 40, of Churdan, domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness; and Tanner Dean Bush, 37, of Churdan, domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness.
