Despite coming close in one game, the Greene County baseball team is still on the search for their first season win with a 0-10 record.
On Monday, June 3, the team traveled to the 9-1 Saydel Eagles’ home field, falling 8-0. All five Ram hits in the game were singles. Camden Jacobs was the sole Greene County player with two hits.
Gavyn Winters and Jacobs were on the mound, allowing 10 hits with seven walks, one hit batter and four strikeouts. Jacobs was pinned with the loss.
On Wednesday, Greene County hosted Perry, falling by just one run with a final score of 4-3 after leading 3-2 until the sixth inning. The Bluejays tied the game and the teams were at a stalemate, forcing extra innings. In the ninth, Perry scored one and the Rams were unable to answer.
There were six Ram hits in the game, all singles. Jaron Jacobs led at the plate, with two hits on the night. Crew Conner, Lane Fields, Noah Hinote and Bryce Stephenson had one hit each.
The Rams saw 27 putouts, 11 assists and six errors on 44 total chances. Winters and Hinote were on the mound, throwing 157 pitches for seven hits, one earned run, five hits and seven strikeouts.
Friday’s game was a 6-3 at home loss to PCM. No stats were available.
The Rams hosted South Hamilton on Monday and Roland-Story on Wednesday. Next week, the Rams will play in Nevada on Monday and at Manson-NW Webster on Tuesday. On Wednesday, Greene County will travel to West Marshall High School and on Friday they will play at Merchants Park in Carroll.
