The end of the season is approaching for the Greene County boys track and field team with the state qualifying meet slated for Thursday in Manson. The Rams are coming off a two-meet week, placing second and fourth as a team in last week’s competition.
State qualifiers will compete at Drake Stadium on May 16, 17 and 18.
Last Monday, the Rams traveled to North Polk High School, taking second as a team with four first place individual finishes: Isaac Carman in discus, Nick Madsen in the 100 and 200 meter dashes, and Drew Wolterman in the 800 meter run. Kamden Kinne placed second in shot put with Lane Fields finishing second in the high jump. Third place went to Zach Stalder in the 100 meter dash.
Third place relay finishes came from Isaac Karber, Nick Stream, Crew Conner and Camden Jacobs in the 4×800 meter relay, and Broc Stream, Fields, Madsen and Wolterman in the distance medley.

On Thursday, the team attended the Heart of Iowa Conference meet at South Hamilton High School, finishing fourth as a team. Nevada won the team title. First place finishes were taken by Carman in discus and Wolterman in the 800 meter run. Jace Wilson finished second in shot put, with B. Stream taking third in the long jump.
Top three relay finishes were also found by the Rams. The distance medley team of B. Stream, Nathan Behne, Madsen and Wolterman placed second. The 4×800 meter relay team of Karber, N. Stream, Conner and Winters finished third.
