The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union shortened today’s road trip for the Greene County Ram softball team. Originally scheduled to be held in Le Mars, the Class 3A Region 1 title game has been moved to Battle Creek starting at 5:30 pm.
The Rams (26-7) will play the Sioux Center Warriors (26-3) for a berth in the state tournament next week. The Rams have won 14 of their last 16 games, including winning both Region 1 post-season games by the 10-run rule. Both opponents, East Sac County and Sergeant Bluff-Luton were ranked at the end of the regular season.
The Warriors are also playing strong, having won 17 of their last 18 games. The Warriors won their regional quarter-final 5-2 over MOC-Floyd and in the semi-final they shut out Cherokee 10-0 in six innings. MOC-Floyd and Cherokee both had losing records going into post season play.
