“Are you busy? Too busy? Wouldn’t it be nice to take a day—or even half a day—to…slow. down. a. bit? And, to be ‘in the Word’?”
Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson is hosting just such an event Saturday, Oct. 28, from 9 am to 1:45 pm.
Led by Visual Faith® Ministry coach Jenny Long of Papillion, NE, this retreat will be arranged with three stand-alone sessions, each featuring an important woman of the Bible. Each 60-minute segment will allow participants to read, meditate, discuss, and more deeply consider the stories of Esther, The Woman at the Well, and Mary of Magdala, three unlikely women whose stories provide a roadmap for those who seek to live a Kingdom life.
Participants may choose to attend one, two, or any combination of the three sessions. A complimentary lunch of soups, side dishes and refreshments will be served. A bonus session from 1:45 to 2:45 pm will supply participants with time and materials to create a Gifts of Joy Journal in which they can record gratitudes, prayer requests, and devotional take-aways.
Visual Faith® Ministry offers devotional practices and faith tools designed to help people slow down, deal with distractions, and better pay attention to God’s Word. In each of the three sessions, participants will engage in prayer, reflection on God’s Word, and visual + kinesthetic responses to God’s Word. Attendees will be introduced to prayer spaces, secret code prayers, prayer cards, gratitude records, and colorful intercessions, as well as other Visual Faith® tools and practices.
There is no charge for this event, but an (1) RSVP is requested in order to have sufficient materials for participants. Please also let us know if you would like to (2) join us for lunch that day and (3) if you need child care, as well as (4) if you plan to attend the bonus session at 1:45 pm.
