The Greene County volleyball team had a 2-0 week, increasing their overall season record to 10-6, putting them near the top in the Heart of Iowa Conference. Nevada and Roland-Story are undefeated in conference action. The Rams have one loss.
The Rams traveled to PCM High School on Sept. 12, beating the Mustangs 3-0. The Rams won 25-18, 25-15 and 26-24, with an effective team serve rate of 92.8-percent. Setter Violet Reedy had 30 assists, with Kaylee Stalder leading in kills with 15 and blocks with four, Graci Cooklin led the team in digs with 10.
“Passing was good and our serving was great. Violet did a great job of setting to a variety of hitters, especially in long volleys and it was nice to see a good balance from our offense,” commented coach Chris Heisterkamp.
On Thursday, the Rams played at South Hamilton, picking up another 3-0 win going 25-21, 25-11 and 25-19.
Stalder led in kills for the game, with 21 in the night. Her first kill of the game was extra special, being her 500th career kill. Stalder is first in the Heart of Iowa Conference and 21st in class 3A for kills with 137 this season, putting her in 87th place in the state for kills.
Cooklin had 13 digs in the night, with Emma Shipley, Hailey Carman and Lila Osterson each with six.
“We had a lot of solid plays that connected for the win,” said Heisterkamp. “These girls continue to show that they are competitors and are willing to work hard to keep growing.”
The Rams were scheduled to play on Thursday at Roland-Story High School.
