Greene County district court, week ending Sept. 8

Adam Eugene Coy, 32, of Grand Junction was sentenced Sept. 8 to a term not to exceed 25 years in prison after being found guilty by a jury July 24 of attempt to commit murder. He must serve a mandatory minimum of 17-1/2 years of the term. Coy was also sentenced to a term not to exceed 10 years in prison after being found guilty of willful injury causing serious injury. He was fined $1,370 with a $205.50 surcharge on the charge. He was sentenced to one year in prison on a charge of domestic abuse assault causing bodily injury. He was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge. All prison terms are consecutive. (Sentencing: Honorable Kurt J. Stoebe)

Coy was found guilty of shooting his girlfriend in the back of her head in the bedroom of the home they shared in Grand Junction last February.

Katie Marie Wisecup, 32, of Ames was sentenced to two years in prison after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of fraudulent practice- third degree. The prison term was suspended and she was placed on informal probation to the Greene County sheriff for one year. She was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge. A charge of gambling- avoid setoff was dismissed. Court costs were $170.87. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)

Marley Chantel Chambers, 38, of Granger was fined $250 with a $37.50 surcharge after she pleaded guilty to a charge of interference with official acts, amended from perjury. She was found unable to pay court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Yula Mae Foy, 51, of Fort Dodge was sentenced to 60 days in jail after she pleaded guilty to a charge of harassment- second degree, amended from harassment- first degree. The jail term was suspended and she was place on informal probation to the Greene County sheriff for one year. She was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge. Court costs were $100. A charge against Foy in magistrate court on a charge of disorderly conduct- loud raucous noise was dismissed. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Candice Marie Ortiz, 35, of Grand Junction was sentenced to 20 days in jail with credit for time served after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. The jail time is consecutive to time in a Greene County felony case. Ortiz was fined $855 with a $128.75 surcharge; the fine and surcharge were suspended. The court found her unable to pay restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees or court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Michael Thomas Kennedy, 66, of Jefferson was granted a deferred judgment after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of assault causing bodily injury or mental illness. He was placed on informal probation to the Greene County sheriff for one year. A judgment was entered for a $430 civil penalty. In a companion case in magistrate court Kennedy was charged with harassment- third degree. A judgment was entered for a $105 fine with a $15.75 surcharge. A charge of disorderly conduct- fighting/violent behavior was dismissed. Court costs were $91.50 (Sentencing: McCarville)

Eric Anthony Grevson, 41, of Jefferson was sentenced to 160 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. The jail time was suspended. He was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge. He also pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana, amended from possession of marijuana- second offense. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail, suspended, and fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge. The fine and surcharge were also suspended. The jail terms will be consecutive if they’re served. Grevson must pay an amount not to exceed $600 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)

The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Correctional Services for one year. He was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge. James Michael Timmons, 43, of Grand Junction was granted a deferred judgment after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated. He was placed on informal probation to the Greene County sheriff for one year and he must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. He must pay a $1,250 civil penalty and $136.50 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Anthony Joseph Nunez, 55, of Jefferson was sentenced to 180 days in jail, with all but 10 days suspended, after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of domestic abuse assault display or use weapon. The jail time is consecutive to sentences in two other Greene County cases. Nunez was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Correctional Services for two years. He must complete the Iowa domestic abuse program. Nunez was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay a $90 domestic abuse surcharge and $171.50 court costs. Kyle Dean Rysavy, 24, of Jefferson was sentenced to 30 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to a charge of assault causing bodily injury or mental illness, amended from domestic abuse assault impeding air/blood flow causing bodily injury. He was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees not to exceed $500 and $131.50 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Persons pleaded not guilty in district court as follows: Dalton Weber, 24, of Scranton, domestic abuse assault- third or subsequent offense; Royce Christopher Gonnelly, 32, of Jefferson, operating while intoxicated; and Coleman Keith Marlow Jr, 42, of Jefferson, harassment- first degree. Trial dates were set for Dec. 12 for Weber and Gonnelly, and for Oct. 31 for Marlow.
