The Greene County volleyball team had a 2-3 week after a Thursday home loss against Nevada and a Saturday tournament at South Hardin.
On Thursday, the Rams hosted Nevada, falling 3-0 after sets of 25-13, 25-19 and 25-16. Stat leaders for the game were Violet Reedy with 12 assists; Kaylee Stalder, Emma Shipley and Payton Kokenge with four kills each and Graci Cooklin with 12 digs.
The Rams traveled to South Hardin on Saturday, finishing third in their pool before winning the consolation bracket. Greene County lost to South Hardin and Central City before winning over Grand View Christian and Boone.
“Early on, we were held back by a few too many unforced errors, but then we got into a rhythm and had a very strong finish at the end of the day. Our players kept their composure throughout some intense action in bracket play and came away with a couple of hard-fought wins,” commented coach Chris Heisterkamp.
Stalder led for kills on the day with 43, with Shipley at 21. Cooklin had 25 digs with Emma Ewalt at 18. Shipley and Stalder each had eight blocks in the tournament. The team had a 92-percent serving rate for the day.
No stats were available for the game against Boone.
The Rams were scheduled to play again on Tuesday at PCM and on Thursday at South Hamilton.
