Ram cross country teams open season at West Central Valley

The Greene County cross country teams opened their season with a meet at West Central Valley last Thursday, Aug. 31. 

For the girls, Ava Minnehan and Becca Anderson cracked the top 20, placing 11th and 16th respectively. In the boys’ race, Noah Hinote, Brady Carstensen and Gavyn Winters placed ninth, 10th and 13th. 

“I am extremely pleased with the teams’ effort. This is a challenging meet with tough conditions. I’m proud of how they fought through the warm conditions and navigating the first meet of the year,” said coach Jeff Lamoureux.

Ram girls times and places: Ava Minnehan, 11th, 26:46.80; Becca Anderson, 16th, 28:01.13; Leah McCormick, 45th, 32:58.18; and Evelyn Snyder, 49th, 33:19.45. The Rams did not have enough runners for a team score.

Girls team scores: I-35, Truro 49; Kuemper Catholic 50; Ankeny Christian 86; Pleasantville 91; West Central Valley 121; Exira-EHK 140; CAM, Anita 159. No team score: Greene County, Saydel, Southwest Valley, Des Moines Hoover, Nodaway Valley, Panorama

Ram boys times and places: Noah Hinote, 9th, 19:50.24; Brady Carstensen , 10th, 19:53.04; Gavyn Winters, 13th, 20:05.97; Carter Hinote, 22nd, 21:28.78; Kolby Angell, 25th, 21:43.37; Eli Carstensen, 42nd, 24:10.98; Jaden Koller, 54th, 25:08.15; Blaise Schilling, 55th, 25:08.90; M. Carstensen, 66th 26:34.16; and Dexter Ritter  , 92nd,   36:08.66.
