Summer may just be winding down but for the Thomas Jefferson Gardens of Greene County (TJG) board, it’s time to look for a gardener.
A new gardener will be needed starting in September to get things going in the greenhouse for the year, said retiring head gardener Jean Walker of Paton. “It’s a part-time position but really a year-round job when you think about planning for the year, ordering seed, plants, and other preparation. The spring and summer are busier but so enjoyable.”
The successful applicant for the position must be experienced and knowledgeable in gardening and physically able to do the work. The gardener also works closely with the TJG board on the care of the gardens, tours and events held there, coordinating the volunteer efforts of the board, and other duties.
Persons who want more information about the position and the compensation can contact Walker at 515-370-1905 or Daniele Ross 515-370-4028.
