In Greene County district court Noah M. Winkelman, 334, of Jefferson was sentenced July 17 to 180 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated. All but two days of the jail sentence was suspended and he was placed on probation for one year to Boone/Greene County Probation. He may complete the Des Moines Area Community College 48-hour alcohol education program in lieu of the jail time. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. He was fined $1,250 with a $187.50 surcharge; one half will be waived if he obtains a temporary restricted license. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)
A judgment for a $105 fine with a $15.75 surcharge was entered against Antonio Ramirez Espana, 50, of Montevideo, MN, on a charge of disorderly conduct- fighting/violent behavior, amended from assault while display dangerous weapon. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Alicia Marie Hawkins, 33, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana; Robert Charles Harvilicz, 43, of Jefferson possession of marijuana, controlled substance violation, dominion/control of firearm/offensive weapon by domestic abuse offender and domestic abuse assault- second offense; and Chia Grabel, 49, of Churdan, OWI- first offense. Trial dates were set for Sept. 26 in every case.
Cases were initiated in district court during the week ending July 21 as follows: Lorraine Logan, 63, of Grand Junction, harassment- second degree; and Chad Thomas Logan, 52, of Grand junction, assault while displaying dangerous weapon.
