Not a blade of grass out of place and enough color for a rainbow describes the Jefferson Garden Club’s July Yard of the Month selection at the home of Vern and Rose Foje at 108 S. Oak St. “Colorful, clean, attractive, neat and tidy” were all used in the committee’s discussion of the property.
Having color throughout the summer was a goal of the couple who chose to have a white home when they built it in 1992 and utilize landscaping for curb appeal and interest.
Mounds of bright yellow coreopsis anchor the corner with maiden grass and daylilies nearby. A burning bush at the front door will bring red color in the fall. Large white hydrangea blossoms will change color as the months progress creating all season interest.
Deep red geraniums rimmed with white petunias on the northeast corner of the house are a cheery welcome along with geraniums on the porch.
While Vern can be almost daily be seen around the community caring for flowers and pulling weeds, there is still time to keep his own yard worthy of recognition.
