Following are excerpts of activities reported by the Greene County sheriff’s office:
Monday, July 31: At 7 am a deputy assisted with cattle out on 305th St and P Ave in Franklin Township. At 11:22 am a deputy investigated a complaint of illegal dumping in the 3400 block of 337th St in Washington Township. At 1:51 am a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 900 block of Sand St in Churdan. At 5:38 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass near 16th St on the Union Pacific right of way in Grand Junction.
Sunday, July 30: At 10:35 am a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 500 block of S. 12th St in Grand Junction. At 2:20 pm a deputy removed a deer from the roadway on Hwy 4 near 210th St north of Jefferson. At 5:12 pm a deputy investigated a burglary in the 600 block of S. 13th St in Grand Junction.
Saturday, July 29: At 9:42 pm a deputy investigated a burglary in the 500 block of S. 12th St in Grand Junction.
Friday, July 28: At 10:31 am a deputy investigated a complaint of a vicious dog in the 900 block of Jay St in Churdan. At 4:15 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of theft in the 200 block of S. 19th St in Grand Junction.
Thursday, July 27: At 2:29 am a deputy, Jefferson fire, Scranton fire, and Grand Junction fire responded to a structure fire in the 1300 block of 310th St in Greenbrier Township. The structure had severe damage. At 1:50 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 500 block of Lincoln St in Scranton.

Tuesday, July 25: At 2 am a deputy investigated a report of a missing bicyclist near 237th St and Jordan Ave in Jackson Township. The bicyclist was located on the river upstream from the river access. At 5:52 am a deputy investigated a burglary in the 900 block of Cedar St in Scranton. At 10:52 am the Greene County sheriff’s office, Greene County Ambulance, and Grand Junction rescue responded to numerous medical calls on the RAGBRAI® route throughout the day. At 2:11 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 1000 block of E. Main St in Grand Junction. At 3:30 pm a deputy investigated a theft of a bicycle on 4th St in Rippey.
Monday, July 24: At 6:59 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with an arrest in the 500 block of N. Elm St. At 11:31 pm a deputy located a stolen truck stuck in the river on Jordan Ave near 237th St in Jackson Township.
Sunday, July 23: At 9:05 am a deputy assisted with a cow out in the 1200 block of E Ave north of Scranton.
Saturday, July 22: At 1:40 pm a deputy and Scranton fire department responded to a farm implement fire on D Avenue near Hwy 30 west of Scranton. At 9:41 pm a deputy assisted with cattle on the roadway in the 1600 block of 255th St in Grant Township. At 10:50 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 1100 block of Lincoln St in Scranton.
Friday, July 21: At 5:10 am the sheriff removed a deer from the roadway on Hwy 30 at Pioneer Ave east of Jefferson. At 6:27 am a deputy assisted with cattle out on Hwy 30 near J Ave west of Jefferson. At 9:44 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of drag racing on 130th St near Paton. At 11:21 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 500 block of E. Main St in Grand Junction.
Thursday, July 20: At 7:05 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 900 block of Cedar St in Scranton.
Wednesday, July 19: At 11:39 am a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on Hwy 30 near Y Ave east of Grand Junction. Bethany Henze, 39, of Ames struck a deer with a 2017 Ford van, causing an estimated $7,000 in damage to the vehicle. At 5:46 pm a deputy investigated a suspicious person on Hwy 30 near R Ave east of Jefferson. Anthony Kennedy, 41, of Jefferson was arrested for a Dallas County arrest warrant for theft- fifth degree*. At 6:59 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with an arrest in the 500 block of S. Olive St.
Tuesday, July 18: At 1:06 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of a dog killing chickens and ducks in the 500 block of Main St in Grand Junction.
Monday, July 17: At 7:50 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 1100 block of Lincoln St in Scranton. At 9:55 pm a deputy assisted with cattle out on 250th St and W Ave in Junction Township.
Sunday, July 16: At 6:36 am a deputy investigated an assault in the 800 block of Percival St in Grand Junction. Lorraine Logan, 63, of Grand Junction was arrested for harassment- second degree and assault. Chad Logan, 52, of Grand Junction was arrested for assault while displaying a dangerous weapon. At 5:25 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of illegal shooting at Pounds Pit on U Ave north of Grand Junction. Michael Larson, 33, of Grand Junction was cited for operating a ATV on public land and warned for the illegal target shooting.
Saturday, July 15: At 7:19 am a deputy removed a deer from the roadway on Hwy 30 and S Ave west of Grand Junction. At 4:34 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 800 block of Percival St in Grand Junction. At 6 pm a deputy again investigated a complaint of trespass in the 800 block of Percival St in Grand Junction. At 11:38 pm a deputy investigated a single-vehicle accident on 10th Street near Q Ave in Hardin Township. Nolan Brand, 23, of Somers lost control of a 2021 Chevrolet 2500 and rolled in the ditch. Brand left the scene and was later located. He was cited for failure to maintain control.
Friday, July 14: At 2:14 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with a search warrant in the 1200 block of 245th St and 305 S. Walnut St. At 10:55 pm a deputy investigated a single-vehicle accident on 305th S and Orchard Ave in Franklin Township. Bryce Burkhardt, 24, of Jefferson lost control of his 2010 Chevrolet Suburban. The vehicle entered the south ditch and hit an embankment. Burkhardt was cited for failure to maintain control and failure to wear a seat belt. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $7,500.
Thursday, July 13: At 2:10 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with a pursuit in Jefferson. At 3:04 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 800 block of Bell St in Churdan. At 5:23 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 500 block of Bell St in Churdan. At 10:43 pm a deputy conducted a traffic stop on S. Elm St and Park Ave in Jefferson. Amalle Mantay was arrested for providing false identification*.
Wednesday, July 12: At 4:40 am the sheriff and deputes assisted with storm damage. At 12:44 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 700 block of North St in Churdan. At 4:36 pm a deputy assisted with cattle out on 330th St and Neola Hwy 4 in Franklin Township. At 6:42 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with a juvenile with suspected controlled substances in the 700 block of S. Maple St.
Tuesday, July 11: At 5:36 am a deputy assisted with cattle on the roadway on 252nd Street near the bike trail in Grant Township. At 8:22 am a deputy assisted with locating two missing cows in the 1500 block of 120th St in Scranton Township. At 10:57 am a deputy investigated a complaint of a low flying plane in the 2400 block of Quest Ave in Franklin Township. At 11:39 am a deputy investigated a backing accident in the 1100 block of Cedar St in Scranton. Shalynn Hingeley, 37, of Scranton backed her 2020 Ford F-250 pickup truck out of her driveway and struck an unoccupied 2013 Kia Optima (owner not named). Hingeley was cited for unsafe backing. Damage to her vehicle was estimated at $400. Damage to the other vehicle was estimated at $1,400. vehicle. At 12:59 pm a deputy assisted DHS with an investigation in Rippey.
Monday, July 10: At 6:10 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of illegal dumping complaint on Redwood Ave near the boat ramp in Grant Township.
Sunday, July 9: At 9:07 am a deputy investigated a burglary in the 700 block of Bell St in Churdan. At 11:16 am a deputy investigated a theft in the 300 block of Irving St in Scranton. At 11:53 am a deputy assisted with cattle on the roadway on A Ave and 340th St in Willow Township. At 12 pm a deputy investigated an accident on Hwy 30 near M Ave west of Jefferson. Thomas Schilling of Jefferson was westbound driving a 2015 Ford Edge and was turning left. Rita Anderson was following Schilling in a 2008 Toyota Highlander. Jonathan Forkner of Scranton was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Impala, following Schilling and Anderson. Forkner attempted to pass and struck the driver’s side of Schilling’s vehicle. Forkner was cited for unsafe passing. Damage to his vehicle was estimated at $4,000. Damage to Schilling’s vehicle was estimated at $6,000. Anderson’s vehicle sustained no damage. At 1:38 pm a deputy, Greene County Ambulance, and Jefferson fire responded to a single-vehicle rollover accident on Hwy 4 near 150th St in Dawson Township. Jeffery Sauter of Rolfe was southbound on Hwy 4 driving a 2009 Dodge Ram, pulling a trailer with a skid loader and some large rocks on it. The driver lost control of the vehicle and rolled once in the west ditch. The driver and a passenger were transported by ambulance to Greene County Medical Center. The truck and trailer were both totaled in the accident. At 4:13 pm a deputy investigated a suspicious person on Hwy 30 near J Ave west of Jefferson. Rebecca Miner, 48, of Scranton was arrested for a Polk County arrest warrant for theft- second degree*.
Saturday, July 8: At 7:44 am a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief at the intersection of Kendrick and State Sts in Scranton. At 3:19 pm a deputy assisted the DNR with capturing an injured bald eagle on S Ave near 195th St in Hardin Township. The eagle was taken to a rehab center. At 7:11 pm a deputy investigated a dog bite in the 900 block of 205th St in Kendrick Township. At 10:20 pm a deputy investigated a two-vehicle accident in the 1700 block of R Ave in Grant Township. Ronald Rivers of Florida was driving a 2020 Dodge Ram. Rivers turned and struck a parked 2013 Ford Fusion (owner not named). Damage to the Dodge was estimated at $700. Damage to the Fusion was estimated at $2,000.
Friday, July 7: At 4:36 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 600 block of S. 13th St in Grand Junction.
Thursday, July 6: At 2 pm the sheriff and deputies, assisted by the Carroll County sheriff’s office, conducted a search warrant at 113 N. 4th St, Laneboro. Suspected controlled substances and drug paraphernalia were located. Charges are pending lab results. At 3:11 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 1900 block of L Ave in Greenbrier Township. At 5:29 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 600 block of S. 15th St, Grand Junction. At 7:19 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with a possible reported car accident in the 500 block of E. Garfield St.
Wednesday, July 5: At 12:53 pm a deputy investigated a report of a stop sign missing at Hwy 30 and Hwy 144 at Grand Junction. At 7:47 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with an arrest near N. Wilson Ave and W. Perry St.
Tuesday, July 4: At 6:27 pm a deputy investigated a burglary in the 1600 block of L Ave in Jackson Township. At 9:06 pm a deputy and the Jefferson fire department responded to a vehicle fire in the 1200 block of Orchard Ave in Hardin Township. A 2000 GMC Sierra was a total loss in the fire. The suspected cause of the fire is fireworks debris and trash that was placed in the back of the truck.
Monday, July 3: At 6:25 am a deputy located a missing stop sign on 150th St and A Ave in Cedar Township. At 10:45 am the sheriff and deputies assisted the Boone County sheriff’s office with a barricaded subject in Boxholm.
Sunday, July 2: At 2:26 am a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with a domestic assault in the 300 block of W. Reed St.
Saturday, July 1: At 12:39 am a deputy and Grand Junction fire responded to a structure fire in the 900 block of E. Main St in Grand Junction. The house sustained fire and water damage. At 3:58 pm a deputy investigated a two-vehicle accident on Hwy 4 near 300th St in Franklin Township. Daniel West, 60, of Yale was southbound driving a 1996 Dodge Ram pickup truck. Paige Lansman, 48, of Churdan pulled her 2019 Ford Escape from a driveway and struck the passenger side of West’s vehicle. Lansman was cited for failure to yield. Damage to her vehicle was estimated at $2,500. West was cited for failure to prove financial liability. Damage to his vehicle was also estimated at $2,500. At 5:39 pm a deputy assisted with a cow out on Hwy 4 near 210th St north of Jefferson. At 11:23 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson police department with a fight at Greene County Medical Center.
