Scott Havens, 1960 – 2023

Funeral services will be held March 30 at Salem United Methodist Church in Paton for Scott Havens, 62, of Jefferson. Interment will be at the Paton Township Cemetery south of Paton.

Scott was born to John and Delores Havens on June 22, 1960, in Winterset, and passed away on March 26, 2023.

Scott grew up on his parents’ farm outside of Greenfield with his older sister and younger brother, which instilled the value of hard work. After graduating from Greenfield High School, Scott continued to work on the farm and in sales, which came naturally to him. After many years as a salesman, Scott finished his career driving truck. He devoted his entire life to supporting both family farms and enjoyed farming throughout his life.

Scott Havens was a wonderful father and grandfather who enjoyed cooking Sunday dinners and regular visits with the family and his grandkids. Anyone who stopped by the house, including family, remembers him pulling all the food out of the fridge to share and checking multiple times to see if anyone was hungry. He enjoyed listening to music and having friendly conversations with anyone he ran into. He was loved by family and many friends and will be missed.

Scott was preceded in death by his father, John Havens.

He is survived by his wife Zoe Ann Havens of Jefferson; his children Michelle (Chad) Ruzicka and Bo (Roxie) Havens, both of Nebraska, Jessica Havens of New York City, NY, Kady (Justin) Havens of Dallas Center, Dylan (Ashley) Havens of Paton, Maggie Havens of Jefferson, and Sophia Havens of North Liberty, IA; grandchildren Gage Havens, Emma Havens, Ryder Havens, Elsie Mikael, Neil Snyder, Eli Snyder, and Hallie Havens; his mother Delores Havens of Greenfield; parents-in-law Doyle and Virginia Carlson of Jefferson; his sister Tonna (Bob) Twombly of Greenfield; his brother Chris (Bev) Havens of Lake Geneva, WI; sister-in-law Carla (Mike) Chow of Ames; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.

The family is assisted by Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home, Jefferson.
