Greene County adds Hall of Fame for fine arts and fine arts sponsors

After inducting members into an Athletic Hall of Fame three times, Greene County Community Schools is inaugurating a Fine Arts Hall of Fame and a Fine Arts Sponsor Hall of Fame.

Fine Art Hall of Fame nominees must be graduates of Greene County, Jefferson-Scranton, East Greene, Jefferson or Scranton high school and have participated in a school-sanctioned activity. Those activities must also have been sanctioned by the Iowa High School Music Association or the Iowa High School Speech Association.

Criteria may include but are not limited to acceptance in an All-State music ensemble or the All-State speech festival; solo/small ensemble festival outstanding performer selection; multiple superior festival ratings; winning the banner at All-State speech; placing first at the jazz band or vocal jazz championships; collegiate honors or competitions in the field; and/or professional honors or achievements in the field.

Visual arts criteria may include but are not limited to state level awards, recognition for a career in visual arts; and/or major contribution to community arts.

Nominees for the Fine Arts Sponsor Hall of Fame must have been or be a sponsor of an IHSMA or IHSSA sanctioned activity.

Criteria may include but are not limited to multiple years as a successful activity sponsor; consistently high numbers of participants; consistently above average All-State Festival participants; directing individuals or ensembles that win the speech banner; directing jazz ensembles that win their championship; receiving superior large group ratings more than 90 percent of the time; and/or starting events that have a tremendous impact on the school district or the state.
