Greenbrier 4-H holds Family Night

Greenbrier 4-H club’s members and families gathered for the annual Family and Awards Night Sunday, Nov. 6, at Clover Hall. This event celebrated the accomplishments of the club and its members over the last year.

Bailey Anderson welcomed people and called the meeting to order. Grace Hardaway led the introduction of families, and Cody Stephenson had people laughing while playing the Hot Pad game. 

Shailynne Woodley acknowledged these members for having exhibits at the Iowa State Fair: Bailey and Becca Anderson, Grace Hardaway, Elise Badger, Aden Bardole, Breanna Pope, Jaelynn Hedges, Makenzie Wahl, and Cody Stephenson. Madison Christensen was selected to participate in the $15 challenge at the Clay County Fair.

Bailey, and Aden Bardole led the initiation of these new members: Elaina Stephenson, Elija, Ellen, and Ava Glendening, Carter McCollom, Norah Hoyt, Quinten Messer, Lily Sheridan, Parker Gierstorf, Poppy Wetrich, and Madison Cooke. After reciting the 4-H pledge and receiving their membership cards they were welcomed into the club.

Samantha Hardaway from the Extension office led installation of the new Greenbrier club officers. Those installed were co-presidents Grace Hardaway, Shailynne Woodley, and Cody Stephenson; vice-president Bailey Anderson; secretaries Becca Anderson and Aden Bardole; treasurers Autumn Barrett and Dakota Ostrander; reporter Makenzie Wahl; photographer Jaelynn Hedges; and recreation officers Eli Hardaway and Adya Messer.

Hardaway then handed out record book, project, and special county 4-H awards.

Bailey Anderson and leader Linda Hedges passed out 4-H tenure certificates and seals. Those went to: one year – Lillian Barrett, Rylan Hostetler, Tyler Pope, Brinley Schmidt, Alivia Turpen, Makenzie Wahl, Ashlynn Ball, Abigail Wood and Gwendolyn Hooper; two years – Madison Christensen, Landyn Goughnour, Eli Hardaway, Jaelynn Hedges, Cody Taggart, Callie Bobolz and Madison Turpen; three years – Adya Messer and Breanna Pope; four years – Autumn Stevens, Cayden Stream, Autumn Barrett and Dakota Ostrander; five years – Kaitlyn Halterman, Becca Anderson, Aden Bardol and Kaleah Messer; six years – Elise Badger; seven years – Sadie Gilbertson, Grace Hardaway, Cody Stephenson and Shailynne Woodley; and eight years –  Olivia Shannon, Emma Halterman and Bailey Anderson.

The night concluded with a reminder to do the 2023 4-H re-enrollment by Nov. 15 to avoid a $25 late fee. Greenbrier’s 4-H year will be completed with bowling at Spare Time Lanes on Sunday, Dec. 4, at 1 pm.
