Boys finish second in HOIAC cross country meet

The Greene County boys cross country team earned second place and had two All-Conference runners at the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference meet Oct. 10 at Lincoln Valley Golf Club in State Center. The top eight finishers are named as All-Conference. Ram sophomore Noah Hinote was seventh with a time of 19:02.84, and senior Ethan Frederick was eighth in 19:09.12. Gavyn Winters was ninth in 19:17.55.

Other Ram times and finishes were Kolby Angell, 15th, 20:01.44; Carter Hinote, 33rd, 21:18.26; Mylo Taute, 37th, 21:35.32; and Jayden Koller, 90th, 27.11.09.

Nevada finished as conference champions with four medalists; Cub runners were in first, third, fifth and sixth places. Team scores were Nevada 26, Greene County 69, South Hamilton 94, West Marshall 103, Perry 123, Roland-Story 155, Saydel 171, and PCM 181.

The girls placed eighth in team standings. Olivia Shannon led the team with a 16th place finish in 24:01.95. Other finishes were Autumn Stevens, 23rd, 25:10.71; Ava Minnehan, 38th, 27.00.16; Ava Jablonski, 41st, 27:34.72; and Leah McCormick, 59th, 30:57.12.

Nevada is the conference champions with a score of 44. Other team scores were Roland-Story 59, PCM 88, West Marshall 92, Perr 144, Saydel 146, South Hamilton 152, and Greene County 162.
