Greene County district court, week ending July 22

In Greene County district court Shannon Michael Meyer, 46, of Ralston was sentenced July 18 to 10 days in jail after he changed his plea to guity to a charge of driving while license barred. The jail sentence was suspended for six months and he was placed on informal probation to the Greene County sheriff for six months. He was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge; both were suspended. Meyer must pay an amount not to exceed $600 for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $136.50 court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)

Jason Robert Smith, 37, of Jefferson was sentenced to 60 days in jail, with all but two days suspended, after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated. He was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He may complete the 48-hour Des Moines Area Community College 48-hour weekend alcohol program in lieu of the jail time. If he does not complete that program, he must complete a 12-hour impaired driver’s course. Smith must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. He was fined $1,250 with a $187.50 surcharge; one-half will be waived if he obtains a temporary restricted license. Court costs were $176.50. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Henry Eric Segebart, 21, of Vail was sentenced to 60 days in jail, with all but two days suspended, after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated. He was placed on probation to the Center for Creative Justice in Ames for a period not to exceed 12 months. He may complete the 48-hour Des Moines Area Community College 48-hour weekend alcohol program in lieu of the jail time. If he does not complete that program, he must complete a 12-hour impaired driver’s course. Segebart must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. He was fined $1,250 with a $187.50 surcharge; one-half will be waived if he obtains a temporary restricted license. Court costs were $140. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Cierra Catherine Wright, 21, of Waukee was granted a deferred judgment after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana. She was placed on informal probation to the Greene County sheriff for one year. She must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense. She must pay a $430 civil penalty and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Katherine Elizabeth Wells, 34, of Jefferson was sentenced to 13 days in jail with credit for time served after she pleaded guilty to a charge of fighting/ violent behavior, amended from domestic abuse assault casing injury or mental illness. She was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge. She must pay an amount not to exceed $300 for her court appointed attorney’s feed and $131.50 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Jodi Ann Ganoe, 47, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana- second offense; Kegan Rowdy Steven Claiser, 23, of Ogden, OWI- first offense; Joseph Robert Hupp, 30, of Scranton, OWI- third offense; Jacoby Brian Winters, 29, of Bayard, OWI- first offense; and Coltyn Reece Steed, 22, of Doddridge Miller, AR, OWI- first offense. Trial dates were set for Sept. 27 in every case.

Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Richard Allen Keller, 41, of Grand Junction, burglary- third degree, and in a separate case, possession of methamphetamine- third offense and person ineligible to carry dangerous weapon.
