Hannah Curtis selected as 2022 fair queen

Greene County 2021 graduate Hannah Curtis was selected Wednesday night as the 2022 Greene County Fair queen. She will preside over the remainder of this year’s fair and represent Greene County in the Iowa State Fair queen contest in August. She will also receive a $500 scholarship sponsored by Humboldt Mutual Insurance Association.

She was crowned by 2021 fair queen Ashlynn Frederick.

Curtis is the daughter of Kent and Danille Curtis and a sophomore at Simpson College. She is double majoring in English and history, and is director of administration of the Simpson chapter of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She plans to accept an undergraduate assistantship at Smith Chapel at Simpson where she will be in charge of programming. She also plans to be part of the Simpson College dance team and band. As a student at GrCoHS she was active in 4-H, National Honor Society, student council, Interact, band, choir, cross-country and track.

Other contestants were Emma Halterman and Analynn Baugh, both of whom will be seniors at Greene County High School.

Judges for the contest were Deb Marquardt, Alicia Heun and 2020-21 fair queen Chloe Berns. Fair board member Katlynn Mechaelsen organized the contest.
