As a welcoming gesture for all who visit the Thomas Jefferson Gardens of Greene County (TJGGC), the gardens board offers a self-guided tour brochure detailing the many features of the attraction with history of the prairie garden, the Thomas Jefferson designed plow, the farmers’ garden, the greenhouse, musical instruments, and more. The guide is available in the Welcome Center, “Greene County’s Front Door”, where many tourists stop first to get more information about the area.
The original guide is available in English but through the efforts of Janice Harbaugh, a member of the board and Amy Van der Meer, Greene County High School Spanish teacher, the document is now available in Spanish.
“We wanted to help everyone be able to enjoy the gardens fully and learn as much as possible about them,” said Harbaugh. “We hope the English and now Spanish versions will help all our visitors appreciate the many aspects of Thomas Jefferson Gardens of Greene County. The help of Ms. Van der Meer in the translation process is greatly appreciated.”
