Medical center foundation hosts ‘Tree of Life’ fundraiser

Area residents are invited to join the Greene County Medical Center Foundation this year in its annual Tree of Life, celebrating the lives of those we have loved and lost. Ornaments can be purchased in remembrance, or honor of a loved one for $25 through Dec. 1. The loved one’s name will be attached to a special ornament and placed on our Tree of Life.

The virtual Tree of Life Ceremony will take place Tuesday, Dec. 7, at 6 pm. The public can watch the ceremony on the Greene County Medical Center’s Facebook page live. During the ceremony loved ones will be recognized and honored and donors will be thanked for participating in this year’s event.

The Tree of Life will be on display in the medical center’s specialty clinics lobby through Dec. 10. Starting Dec. 13, Tree of Life ornaments can be picked up at the medical center main entrance to be used on their family tree.

“The Tree of Life is a great tradition we have at the medical center. It is a chance for us to reach out to the community and give people an opportunity to honor a loved one,” said foundation director Nancy Houska. “This year we are again holding a virtual ceremony and community members will be able to watch their loved ones be honored live from home.”

The Tree of Life order forms can be found on the medical center website at gcmchealth.com/foundation. Forms are also available at the medical center auxiliary’s Gift Garden or from Houska. Persons who want more information can call Houska at 515-386-0108.
