Grow Greene County grant applications available

Grow Greene County has released its competitive grant application for the seventh round of grants that will be distributed to nonprofit, governmental and charitable organizations from Greene County which submit a successful application for a project.

Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation is the local nonprofit corporation that holds the state gaming license in Greene County. Grants awarded in 2022 will be from funds received in 2021 under the agreement with Wild Rose Entertainment Inc.

Grow Greene receives five percent of Wild Rose Jefferson’s adjusted gross gaming revenue. From that total, Grow Greene awards 4.1 percent to projects in Greene County. The remaining 0.9 percent is shared equally by the community foundations in the six counties contiguous to Greene County.

Norm Fandel, president of Grow Greene, released the following statement for organizations that receive funding from Grow Greene or are applying through its competitive grant application: “Last year we had to report a down year in revenues due to COVID-19 and the 10-week closure of the casino. This year we are optimistic that the final numbers will be above last year’s, and all signs point to our best year to date. With these encouraging year-end results we certainly want to encourage groups to turn in applications with the hope of providing funding to some inspiring 2022 projects. With a successful 2021 and the support of the community and contiguous counties, we can continue with our goal and mission to improve our communities in the best way possible with the funds we will have to distribute.”

The application is on the Grow Greene County website, www.growgreenecounty.org . Completed applications are due by Feb. 10, 2022.

The Grow Greene board of directors includes president Norm Fandel, vice president Craig Marquardt, secretary Peg Raney, treasurer Bob Allen, and board members Lori Mannel, Brenda Muir, Kate Neese and Rick Morain. In addition, two ex officio members joined the board in 2019: Dawn Rudolph, representing the Greene County board of supervisors, and Matt Wetrich, representing the city of Jefferson. Board attorney is Mike Mumma and administrative assistant is Cindy Duhrkopf.
