As I sat in Arch Ally on a pretty fall day last week, I was thinking about what an impact and improvement this project made in our downtown and community. On the gate hangs a sign that reads funded by Grow Greene County. As I watch the progress on the new, much needed Early Learning Center, I see a sign, funded by Grow Greene County. As I marvel at the beautiful auditorium and gymnasium at our newly constructed Greene County High School, I can’t help but think of the generosity of Grow Greene County. The list goes on and on.
Several years ago, many of us would never have dreamed that so many extraordinary projects could move forward when funding in rural communities is so limited. When Wild Rose Casino chose Jefferson for a location and Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation was formed, the result has been approximately $9 million toward groups and projects that we care about deeply. The funding has covered almost every aspect of our community life including education, public health, recreation, safety, youth, animal welfare, Covid relief, and more. Most especially, it helps to fund the Greene County Community Foundation, which is crucial in funding smaller projects in our area.
In addition to all the wonderful things we see happening in our community, we also never imagined we’d be able to drive a short seven miles for some of the best concerts and entertainment. We’ve had great experiences at wedding receptions, Boost Bash, meetings and seminars at the Event Center.
The final referendum on keeping Wild Rose a part of our community will be on the November 2 ballot. We hope you’ll join us in voting YES to continue growing our community.
