In Greene County district court Joshua Paul Morgera, 23, of Papillon, NE, was fined $105 with a $15.75 surcharge Sept. 27 after he pleaded guilty to a charge of assault- simple, amended from assault on person in certain occupation. A second charge of assault- simple, also amended from assault on person in certain occupation, was dismissed. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)
Royce Christopher Gonnelly, 30, of Jefferson was sentenced Sept. 30 to 180 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of methamphetamine. All but two days of the jail time was suspended and he was placed on probation to the Department of Correctional Services for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. Gonnelly was fined $435 with a $65.25 surcharge. He must pay restitution not to exceed $1,000 for his court appointed attorney’s fees. Charges of possession of marijuana and possession of heroin- third or subsequent offense were dismissed. Court costs were $100.
Judgment was also entered in a companion case in magistrate court in which Gonnelly was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. He was fined $105 with a $15.75 surcharge. Court costs were $60. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Brittany Louise Hansen, 18, of Boone was sentenced to one year in jail after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated. All but two days of the jail term was suspended and she was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. She must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense. She may complete the Des Moines Area Community College 48-hour alcohol education program in lieu of the jail time. She was fined $1,250 with a $187.50 surcharge; one-half will be suspended if she obtains a temporary restricted license.
Hansen was also charged with eluding. On that charge she was sentenced to 22 days in jail, with credit for time served. The jail terms are consecutive. She was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge; both were suspended. On both charges she must pay restitution for her court appointed attorney not to exceed $100. Court costs were $200.
